Virginia and Maryland teens join for regional Shabbaton!

Maryland and Virginia CTeens were treated to an awesome Shabbaton in Fairfax, VA. The weekend was jam-packed from start to finish with activities, games, discussions, and LOTS of food!

The Shabbaton kicked off with registration, a barbecue, and a design-your-own airbrushed t-shirt! Then everyone hustled to their hosts’ homes to get ready for Shabbat, later regrouping to light Shabbat candles and welcome Shabbat with a rollicking Kabbalat Shabbat and dance-fest Lecha Dodi. During the Friday night dinner, CTeen seniors shared the highlights of their experiences with everyone and the Rabbis led a great discussion that lasted until after midnight.

Shabbat morning everyone feasted on a delicious breakfast spread before dividing into groups for Shacharit. After Kiddush, the teens got to check out the incredible game room and enjoyed a delicious lunch. A Stump-the-Rabbi session, hilarious auction, seudah shlishit, and comedy show rounded out the afternoon, and before we knew it it was time for a beautiful musical Havdalah, followed by a trip to… Laser Tag! The CTeens sure gave the rabbis a run for their money.

Says Anna Pauli of Fairfax, VA: “The VA/MD regional Shabbaton was full of positive energy that each and every teen contributed. Everyone had a great time connecting with other Jewish teens and telling motivational and inspiring stories continuously throughout Shabbat. The enthusiasm for Jewish pride was unbelievable and I wish I could relive every moment with all of the new friends that I made that weekend.”
